MURI at IUPUI

The IUPUI Center for Research and Learning and the School of Engineering and Technology MURI Program have established a new campus-wide MURI program, the IUPUI MURI MENTORSHIP PROGRAM, open to all disciplines, beginning Spring Semester 2008. This program will fund several inter/multidisciplinary undergraduate research projects (IUPUI MURI projects) under the mentorship of faculty members in any discipline, in any undergraduate, graduate, or professional school or unit on the IUPUI campus. The IUPUI MURI Mentorship Program is an extension of the original MURI Program housed in the School of Engineering and Technology.

Applications are sought from all IUPUI faculty and researchers who are interested in mentoring undergraduates to conduct inter/multidisciplinary research in teams of at least two students studying in different disciplines. Students or student groups may submit proposals through a faculty member or researcher who agrees to sponsor the research. This is a unique opportunity provided to IUPUI faculty and researchers for mentoring students while earning research funds and conducting pilot projects. The deadline for proposal submission is the 3rd Friday each December the Spring projects, March 15 each year for summer projects, and the 1st Friday in August for Fall and AY year projects. The IUPUI MURI Selection Committee will review the submitted proposals. Winning proposals will be announced by two weeks following the proposal deadline and the students will be asked to apply by two weeks following proposal approval.

Summer MURI

IUPUI Students: Note that the projects for the Summer MURI Program will be posted after April 15, 2008. The Summer MURI is a ten week program to be held from June 2nd till August 8th jointly with the Summer UROP program. The participants will receive $3,200 for working on a MURI project supervised by an IUPUI mentor. The participating students will be expected to attend the professional development activities organized by the UROP program. See the Summer UROP and IUPUI MURI websites for more information.
