DEADLINE: March 15 for Summer 2008

2008 Summer MURI Program

Dear IUPUI Students:

This is to inform you that the MURI is currently seeking undergraduates to work on several exciting research projects in summer 2008.  You qualify for this program if you are a full-time IUPUI student with a GPA => 3.00, with at least 12 credit hours earned in a degree program.  This is a good opportunity to gain valuable research experience immediately working on a research team. The Summer MURI is a nine-week program to be held from June 2nd till August 1st jointly with the UROP Summer Fellows Program.  The participants will receive $3,200 for working on a research project supervised by an IUPUI mentor. The participating students will also be expected to attend the professional development activities organized by the UROP Summer Fellows Program.

The list of projects and proposals currently available with the names of mentors, co-mentors, and already admitted scholars (if any) are shown below. The proposals indicate the preferred discipline and skill sets.  If you qualify and are interested, feel free to contact the principal mentors below using the application form available at http://ctl.iupui.edu/common/uploads/library/CRL/CRL835752.doc to find out if any position is available for you.

Since we expect more student applicants than the available positions, the approval of a mentor does not guarantee final approval by the MURI director. Applications will be collected till May 9, 2008 and the decision for final selections will be made competitively in consultation with the mentors. Students will be informed of the final decision soon after the May 9th deadline. Applications will still be collected after the posted deadline for projects that still have available positions left.

You may also contact Dr. Hasan U. Akay at hakay@iupui.edu, Director of MURI; or Dr. Kathryn J. Wilson at kjwilson@iupui.edu, Executive Director of CRL, for more information.
